Dogmatism

Emo Phillips: The Golden Gate Bridge

While we do not endorse much of Emo Phillips humor, sometimes it pays to see issues from different points of view. In discussions in the Christian Living Class, we are NOT dogmatic. We solidly support the Denomination's Arminian theology. However, we also respect and defend John Wesley's attitude towards the mutual love and respect between Arminians and Calvinists as related in his statement about "What Is An Arminian".

The Arminian position is supported by some evidence in the physical world in Epigenetcs. We have free will and can choose our behavior. Our behavior can change our DNA and this change can be passed on to our children.

The difference between Arminianism and Calvinism is just one of many differences between denominations and individual beliefs of people in our own congregation. On every issue which could be dogmatically held by any number of Christians, or Protestants, or Wesleyans, or Nazarenes, or members of our own congregation, we openly and frankly discuss them without falling into dogmatic argument.
