Exodus 20:5
King James Bible
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Since it's founding, the Church of the Nazarene has strongly discouraged the use of alcool and tobacco. As the rest of society has caught up to this position, science has clearly shown this is the correct position. Now, with the discovery or epigenetics, the Biblical declaration appears to be confirmed. Your behavior can change your DNA and your bad choices can affect your offspring for many generations.
By the way, this also tends to support the Arminian position on "predestination" more than the Calvinist position on "predestination". It very well could be that the existence of DNA supports the concept of "predestination" while egigenetics supports the Arminian concept of "predestination" and it's "conditional" aspect. (See: "What is an Arminian?"
An interesting aspect of epigenetics is that, according to the above videos, changes in your DNA are brought about by what you ingest through eating, drinking and inhaling.
All of what you see below may be plain old conjecture, but it's interesting to see what appears to be a connection between Biblical events and epigenetics.
The discoveries in the field of Epigenetics tends to agree with the concept that Adam and Eve sinned and that sin was transmitted through epigenomes to all of their descendants.
Our DNA supports the concept of "Predestination". The discoveries in Epigenetcs indicate that we can change our DNA by our behavior supports the concept of Arminiansm, that we have free will and our behavior can change our DNA. Arminianism and Calvinism are supported by DNA research. If we are absolutely "predestined", then God controls our bahavior which controles our Epigenomes. This seems unlikely that God controls our behavior to the point he would cause us to behave in a way that would change our DNA, thus causing our descendants to "sin".
